"My doctor and psychiatrist played hot potato with my life"
My doctor switched me to Effexor. After a month of side effects, he told me to just stop taking it and go back to my old meds. What followed was the worst experience of my life. Sweating through a shirt every 15 minutes, had to call my husband home to lock up the guns. Called my doctor โ 'you're seeing a psychiatrist now, can't help.' Called my psychiatrist โ 'I didn't prescribe it, can't help.' Nobody would help me...

THIS. The 'I didn't prescribe it so it's not my problem' thing happened to me too. I was on Lexapro and my GP told me to stop cold turkey. When I called back in crisis, same thing โ 'talk to your psychiatrist.' Nobody wants to own the problem they created.
Effexor withdrawal is NO JOKE. I tapered off over 6 months and it was still brutal. The fact that your doctor told you to just stop? That's malpractice in my opinion. I'm so sorry.
Having to call your husband to lock up the guns. That sentence hit me like a truck. That's how bad it gets and doctors just shrug. Thank you for being brave enough to share this.
